Lands' End Uniform Ordering
Dress Code Guidelines
The clothing worn by a student has a direct effect on the conduct of the student. Clean, practical, comfortable clothing suitable for school activity is required of all students at Shepherd of the Hills. The following guidelines should be taken into consideration when purchasing school clothing.
School Shirts
5K-8 students are required to wear school shirts Monday through Friday (5 days) unless the dress code is suspended by administration for a special school activity.
A school shirt is defined as any previously approved shirt imprinted with the school logo as well as any shirt ordered from the Lands’ End school website. All approved styles and colors can be found on the Lands’ End website www.landsend.com.
Masks/Face Coverings (Currently NOT REQUIRED)
All students 5 year and older should have a mask or face covering at school. Masks should be free of suggestive, racial, or other inappropriate writing, advertisement, or artwork. This includes offensive words and designs, violence, sex, hate groups, gangs, tobacco products, drugs, and alcohol. Camouflage masks are not allowed.
3K & 4K
3K and 4K students are required to wear a maroon school uniform shirt and khaki pants/skirt on Mass days. They are not required to wear uniform shirts on other days they attend class. Preschool students may wear pants with an elastic waistband. They must, however, abide by all other guidelines in the dress code.

Shorts may be worn to school from the start of the school year until October 15 and again from May 1 until the end of the school year.

During the winter months, ALL students should wear proper clothing in the interest of good health and safety.
Shoes
Footwear posing a safety or noise hazard will not be allowed as determined by school administration.
General Guidelines
Theme Days
Students may wear comfortable clothes to school on the day before Christmas break for the traditional “Christmas Movie Party.” Students may wear red, pink, and Valentine attire for St. Valentine’s Day on February 14th. Students may wear green for St. Patrick’s Day on March 17th.
If Valentine’s Day and St. Patrick’s Day are not on a school day, administration will make the decision on whether students will be allowed to wear these colors on a different day.
The Principal will establish rules during the school year regarding new fashions and make all final decisions determining proper and improper dress.
If the Guidelines Are Not Followed:
First Offense: The student and parent/guardian will be notified via a written infraction that must be signed and returned to school the next school day.
Second Offense: The parent/guardian will be contacted and different clothing will need to be brought to school for the student to change in to.

Mass Attire
- All students must wear a maroon polo shirt and khaki pants on Mass days.
- Girls may wear a khaki skirt on Mass days. Skirts should be of modest length. If skirts are shorter than knee length, solid colored leggings or tights must be worn under skirts.
Pants
- Low rise pants, camouflage pants, and pajama pants should not be worn.
- Any pants worn for athletic practices or games should not be worn. This includes sweatpants, and any kind of cotton or nylon warm up pants.
- Capri Pants, Gauchos, etc. are acceptable to wear year round.
- Blue jeans should not be worn on field trips unless noted.
Shorts (Updated 9/9/2022)

- Shorts must be knee length or longer. (i.e.: Bermuda style shorts)
- Low rise shorts, short shorts, camouflage shorts, cut-off shorts, athletic shorts and shorts made from nylon, spandex or mesh should not be worn.
- Students may not wear shorts when attending Mass.
Skirts, Jumpers, and Dresses
- Skirts, skorts, dresses, and jumpers for girls should be of modest length. If skirts, skorts, dresses, and jumpers are shorter than knee length, solid colored leggings or tights must be worn underneath.
- Dresses and jumpers ordered from the Lands’ End school website are allowed to be worn.
Leggings and Tights
- Leggings are a substitute for tights and should only be worn under a skirt, skort, dress, or jumper.
- All leggings and tights should be of solid color.
Physical Education Clothing
Each student at Shepherd of the Hills Catholic School is required to have a change of clothes for Physical Education class. They include:
- Shepherd of the Hills gym shirt (K-8)
- Gym bag (K-8)
- Athletic socks (K-8)
- Gym shoes with shoelaces – must have non marking soles (K-8)
- Athletic shorts or pants (3-8 only) Shorts should be of modest length.
- Non-Aerosol Deodorant (3-8 only)
- Hand towel (3-8 only)
- No sprays (such as hair spray, body spray or perfume) are allowed in school due to health reasons (allergies, asthma, etc.)
Jewelry and Make Up
- Jewelry that disrupts the learning process or that could be a safety hazard should not be worn.
- Fashion scarves and large statement necklaces should not be worn with school shirts.
- Only ears may be pierced.
- Light make-up may be worn in 7th and 8th grade only.
Outdoor Clothing
During the winter months, ALL students should wear proper clothing in the interest of good health and safety.
- Snow pants and boots are required to play in the snow.
- Jackets and boots may not be worn in the classroom.
Shoes
Footwear posing a safety or noise hazard will not be allowed as determined by school administration.
- Flip flops may NOT be worn. Flip flops are defined as a type of open-toed sandal, usually made of rubber or plastic, that consist of a flat sole held loosely on the foot by a Y-shaped strap that passes between the first and second toes and around either side of the foot.
- High heels should not be worn.
- All shoes must have a secure backing - this includes sandals, clogs, etc.
- All shoes, especially gym shoes, should not make black marks on the floor.
General Guidelines
- All clothing should be worn the way it was designed to be worn.
- All clothing should be free of suggestive, racial, or other inappropriate writing, advertisement, or artwork. This includes offensive words and designs, violence, sex, hate groups, gangs, tobacco products, drugs, and alcohol.
- Clothing that is torn, has holes, or is sloppy is not allowed.
- Clothing that is too tight so as to be immodest should not be worn.
- Clothing which resembles lounge wear, pajamas, or underwear should not be worn.
- Any clothing in which the students’ undergarments are exposed should not be worn.
- Caps, hats, coats, and sunglasses may not be worn in the classroom.
- Camouflage shirts or pants should NOT be worn. Camouflage gym bags, backpacks, and outerwear are allowed.
- Shirts that are midriff bearing, low cut, backless, or see through should not be worn.
- Tube tops and halter tops are not allowed.
- Sleeveless shirts that cover the top of the shoulder, are fitted under the arm, and have a finished edge are allowed.
- Tank tops and shirts with spaghetti straps may be worn under another shirt, but should not be worn alone.
- All students are required to wear a maroon polo shirt and khaki pants for designated school field trips.
- Turtlenecks or long sleeve shirts that are worn under uniform shirts must be a solid color – no stripes or prints are allowed. These shirts do not need to have a school logo.
- Sweatshirts cannot be worn to Mass or on field trips.
- On their birthday, or the day that they celebrate their birthday in school, students are not required to wear a uniform shirt. Students are required to follow all other dress code rules. However, if a student's birthday falls on a Mass day, students must wear their maroon polo and khaki pants to Mass and may change into a non-uniform shirt after Mass.
- On volleyball and basketball game days, student athletes are allowed to wear their team jersey. Students MUST wear a solid color t-shirt under their team jersey.
- Middle school students involved in the A.C.E. Program (Drug & Alcohol Awareness Program) may wear their A.C.E. t-shirt on any day A.C.E. class is held.
